Oasis Reunion Ignites Streaming Surge and Gen-Z Discovery

This past weekend marked a triumphant return for legendary British band Oasis, as they electrified audiences with their reunion concerts. The performances not only reignited the fervor of longtime fans but also catalyzed a significant streaming surge on Spotify, with Oasis experiencing a remarkable 320% increase in streams. This spike underscores the enduring relevance of their music, but intriguingly, it’s the deep cuts that stole the spotlight. Tracks like “Hello” saw a meteoric 1,115% rise, alongside similar jumps for “Bring It On Down” and “Fade Away – Remastered.” Additionally, it’s noteworthy that Gen-Z listeners accounted for over half of Oasis’s 16.6 million new Spotify discoveries in 2025, revealing a fresh wave of youthful appreciation for the band’s timeless sound.

Meanwhile, across the globe, Australian music is making waves as well. Spotify’s ‘Turn Up AUS’ campaign has spotlighted the international rise of artists like The Kid Laroi and Sia. With streaming royalties for Australian music growing by 14% in 2024, and more than 80% of these revenues coming from outside Australia, it’s clear that Aussie artists are capturing hearts worldwide. Impressively, Australian dance music alone amassed over a billion streams globally in March 2025, with Brazil and the Philippines emerging as key markets.

However, not all news in the music world is celebratory. Boiler Room, renowned for its cutting-edge electronic concerts, faces challenges linked to its new ownership under Superstruct Entertainment. This situation has sparked protests due to Superstruct’s connections with KKR, a firm with investments in controversial sectors like defense and disputed territories. Artists like DJ Slugo have withdrawn from Boiler Room events, emphasizing resistance against the commercialization of cultural spaces.

Through these developments, SONO Music Magazine remains a beacon of discovery and exploration within the vibrant ecosystem of indie and global music. Our focus is on empowering artists and celebrating the diverse sounds that shape our world.
